The Journal of Siberian and Far Eastern Studies publishes only articles and book reviews prepared in accordance with regulations on manuscript preparation, submission, revision and publication. The editorial board consists of scholars with doctoral degrees who have accomplished remarkable achievements in regional studies on the Russian Federation. The term of editors, including the editor-in-chief, is 2 years, open to prolongation on the condition of approval of director.

 

Regulations on Substitution

1. Submission Method and Period
All manuscripts are to be submitted to the ACOMS NRF site: http://acoms.jams.or.kr/journal.do?method=journalintro&journalSeq=J000018.

The publication dates are June 30 and December 31. The deadlines of submission are April 30 and October 31.

The percentage of submitters belonging to a specific institution among total submitters should be less than 1/2.

 Regulations on Manuscript Preparation 

 

1. Scope of Themes

The geographical scope of researches should focus on Siberia and the Russian Far East, including Russia in general and the Arctic region. Main academic fields are the Humanities and Social Sciences, and articles relating to Natural Sciences should be interdisciplinary.   

 

2. Submission Materials

① Articles and book reviews are accepted.

② The author(s) of each manuscript should submit a supplementary sheet, with the manuscript title, author’s name, major and degree, affiliation, position, post-address, e-mail address, and telephone number in English.

 

3. Language

① The language of articles and book reviews should be English or Russian. Abstracts and keywords in articles should be written both in English and in Russian.

② However, to improve the approachability of abstracts and book reviews, English is preferable. Especially final versions of book reviews in Russian after referees’ judgment and author’s revision will be translated in English by the editorial board.

 

4. Length

① Articles should be 6,500-8,000 words in length, written in MS-Word format (abstracts: about 150 words; and keywords: around 5 words). 

② Book reviews, without abstracts and keywords, should be written in 800-1,300 words in MS-Word format.  

 

5. General Text 

① Articles must be prepared in MS-Word format.

② Margin, paragraph form, font size and letter interval should be kept in their initial state. Articles should not be laid out.

③ Font: Times New Roman in English and Russian. Main body and reference must be 12-pt font, quotations 11-pt font and footnotes 10-pt.

④ Articles should consist of titles, all authors’ names and affiliations, contents, abstracts and around 5 keywords, and main text in main language; references; and titles, all authors’ names and affiliations, abstracts and around 5 keywords in other language.

⑤ Authors’ names should be enumerated according to the extent of each author’s contribution.

⑥ The source of research grant must be cited in the footnote on the first page with an asterisk(*). In main texts, chapters are marked as “I, II, III,…,” articles as “1, 2, 3,…,” and clauses as “(1), (2), (3),….”

⑦ Footnotes can be internal and external. Internal footnotes should be placed in the main text in this form: (Author’s surname, year: referred pages). External footnotes should be placed at the bottom of the page, marked as “1), 2), 3),….” For regulations on external footnotes, refer to Chapter 6.

⑧ Tables and figures should be inserted into main texts and marked in numerical order: Table 1, Table 2, Fig. 1, Fig. 2 in English manuscripts; Таблица 1, Таблица 2, Рис. 1, Рис. 2 in Russian manuscripts. Figures should be clear, concise and good for reproduction and printing in black and white. Captions should be located above Tables and below Figures, while all sources should be placed below Tables and Titles of Figures. 

⑨ Numbers are written in English-style in English manuscripts, while in Russian-style in Russian manuscripts.
